Customer Service
At Tiffany, we directly source the majority of our diamonds from known mines and sources. Through our Diamond Source Initiative, we can provide provenance—the region or countries of origin—for every newly sourced, individually registered diamond we set. By knowing the origin of your diamond, you can rest assured that your Tiffany diamond was obtained from suppliers that operate in environmentally and socially responsible ways.
We source diamonds from countries including Botswana, Canada, Namibia, Russia and South Africa. Through our responsible sourcing practices, we seek to promote the protection of human rights and the environment, as well as create economic opportunity for communities along the diamond supply chain. For example, as of 2018, we hired 99% of our international manufacturing workforce, comprised of approximately 4,000 employees, directly from the communities around our operations. In that same calendar year, Tiffany provided more than USD $59 million in economic benefits to Botswana’s economy.
The Kimberley Process is an industry commitment to remove the flow of conflict diamonds from the global supply chain. At Tiffany, we not only abide by the Kimberley Process, we go beyond it to protect human rights and the environment. We ask more of our suppliers with our Diamond Source Warranty Protocol and only accept diamonds that originate in countries without diamond-related human rights concerns, such as Botswana, Canada, Namibia, Russia and South Africa. To promote change beyond our own operations, we helped launch the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance in 2006 and were also a founding member of the Responsible Jewellery Council.
